Special CharactersOne of the great things about Cyrk Text Converter is its ability to handle conversion of special characters. On this page, you can see some examples. Windows CharactersWindows and MacOS use different character sets. Most characters are found in both character sets (even if they are placed differently), but some characters are special to one character set. In the Windows characters set, the following characters are not in the characters set of MacOS:
NB: If this page is viewed in a Macintosh browser, these characters might not appear correctly (since they are not part of regular fonts in MacOS). When Cyrk Text Converter converts, Windows text, rtf from a Windows computer, or html, these characters are converted correctly even though they are not part of the Macintosh character set. There are two conversion possibilities, depending on the target format:
Symbol FontThe font “Symbol” contains a lot of special characters, like Greek letters (α, β, δ, Δ, Ω, Γ etc.), arrows (→, ← etc.) and Mathematical Operators (∀, ∃, ⇔ etc.). When converting between styled Macintosh text and rtf (that can both include font styles), these characters are simply converted, using the Symbol font. When converting to and from html, the characters are handled in special ways, because the viewers of the text might not have the Symbol font installed:
Amadeus FontsAmadeus is a font family with music symbols, developed by Cyrk in cooperation with Octopus. Below is an example of characters in Amadeus:
When converting text to html, Cyrk Text Converter can convert Amadeus music symbols so that they can be viewed by users that do not have the Amadeus fonts installed. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
